yea it was nice to see Rean again, I just beat the second game a few days ago, and I will play the third game once I'm finished with the anime, the only thing I regret from the game is they don't give you the option to join the Bracer guild but instead Rean becomes the "Hero" ( Osborne's puppet) , I bet things will be different if he ended up joining the guild

have you played the crossbell arc? trails zero and azure? if you're after the story line. it's best that you played those 2 before going to cs 3... as the timeline is the same but in different location.

both sides higher ups are bad guys imo. Just like in Real world politics, each side paints their propaganda but have ulterior sinister motives. Every political party and country is out to screw the populace while looking like saints doing so just to profit and remain in power.

since this will not be shown in this anime. i guess im gonna tell you, since you could google it anyway.

this "isekai" is a psuedo word created by the goddess adios.. its just one big continent with multiple kingdoms. this show focuses more on the western side of the continent. being the kingdom of erebonia is the largest/powerful.

again, it is not a real world. (ill start with my speculation as the game isnt finished yet) as thousands of years gone by,the goddess's power is weakening, triggering a curse for the zemurian continent to self destroy. or maybe the goddess is now bored and wants to destroy it now.

current year 1205(this anime), this curse was born on year zero, there is no record what happened before that, they just called it the great collapse. current in-game year 1207.

anyway, the curse controls people in power and just want destruction. in this case. the curse is controlling the ironblood chancellor gilliath osborne (kinda like the prime minister), you've seen his protege in the beginning rufus albarea, who just conquered another country (crossbell). now he(osborne) is ordering general aurelia leguin to take north ambria.

the annexation of crossbell and taking north ambria means no more country could enter their backdoor, in which erebonia (controlled by the chancellor) is now open to attack the rest of the continent. (destruction of zemuria)

the curse itself is the bad guy.

This is not isekai though.. But there IS another world in this universe, outside from theirs.. Confirmed by the appearance of Cryptid which are said to be another World's monster that teleports into this world due to Time and Space anomaly, and especially the introduction of McBurn which is explained in the 4th game of Cold Steel series..

The true isekai (another world) is the outside of Zemuria, not Zemuria itself.. That is, IF it doesn't connect with Zemuria at all, because Zemuria is just a continent that is somehow separated by another because of 'the mist', AND it's not part of the whole world itself, it could be that they're just another continent from 1 big planet.. At least, that's the perspective that the game give to us, and I think it's better to take it this way first..
